What is the use of double pointer?

A Doubble pointer is more or less like a two dimensional array..

That is

char StudentArray[25][200];

and

char** StudentArray= new char [25][200];

These are more or less the same.. The only difference is that , one is allocating it in the stack and the other one allocating it in the heap..
